Why come
Why the show is shaped like this
Every hull sits on its own trailer
Nothing is propped on a cradle at chest height where you cannot see the transom. Trailer bays eat about four times the ground a cradle does, so we fit fewer exhibitors on the same hardstand and charge them the same.
The ramp runs, it is not scenery
Boats go down the ramp and out into the bay on the half hour. That means a safety boat, two marshals and a marine insurance rider for the whole four days, none of which we recover from a ticket.
Sounders are shown over water
A forty-two thousand litre glass tank is trucked in, filled and taken away again. Every electronics stand demonstrates into it rather than looping a screen recording, which is the only honest way to show what a transducer sees.
Licence courses run at what they cost
We pay the examiner and give the classroom away free, so a course seat is priced at the paperwork and nothing else. It is the least profitable square metre on the site and it fills before the Friday every year.
